Lake Effect is a band comprised of friends and the love of making music. Time passes and change is inevitable. We feel that any member of Lake Effect is always a member. We honor our former members and recognize
their contributions to the Band. We are very proud that Lake Effect members are blessed with lasting friendships. We have also enjoyed the friendship of our member's families, their friends and neighbors.

John Sabovick Trumpet, Percussion and Vocals - 1999-2009
A founding member of Lake Effect.
John was also the member that came up with our first band slogan,
It's Cooler By The Lake. John's talent and humor were a big part of Lake Effect and will be missed.
John started playing the Trumpet in the 6th grade. At Portage igh School he was part of the Jazz Band that won the Indiana State competition. He was also involved in Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Pep Band and Marching Band.
Cy Rangel - Tenor Sax, Soprano Sax & Percussion - 1999 - 2005
A founding Member of Lake Effect.
By responding to an add for a sax player in the paper, Cy met Dean and Billy in November 98. The group, which considered about 100 names, settled on "Lake Effect", which by the way was Cy's idea.
Cy started playing the sax in the 7th grade at Bishop Noll. After Noll, Cy played in the Purdue University Collegiate Band for 8 semesters. Cy recalls, "Hey. It was an easy A!"
Growing up he was influenced by Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, Average White Band, The Blues Brothers and the big band sounds of Maynard Ferguson. Since college Cy has followed the careers of Spyro Gyra, The Rippingtons, Dave Koz and Richard Elliott.
Bob Horn - Keys - 1999 - 2004
A founding Member of Lake Effect.
Bob was the origional keyboard player in Lake Effect. Besides beaing an accomplished keyboard player and great asset to the band musically, Bob was a riot to work with, quick thinking and whitty. There was never a dull moment with Bob around, to this day we laugh remembering his humor.
